About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Finance Leader to drive strong financial results by developing clear financial strategy & planning with the CEO and leadership team and overseeing disciplined execution. Core responsibilities include optimizing risk-adjusted returns through capital deployment, portfolio management, and asset allocation.

A successful candidate profile demands expertise across the full spectrum of corporate finance and institutional-grade investing, including budgeting & planning, forecasting, operations, treasury, accounting, and investor relations.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and drive the financial philosophy and framework for network-wide capital allocation, portfolio management, and risk-adjusted return optimization by rebalancing assets regularly.
• Define and lead the comprehensive financial strategy for the Protocol Labs network, setting organizational direction across all finance domains (FP&A, treasury, accounting, operations).
• Managing the portfolio to ensure long-term purchasing power preservation, often by diversifying across various asset classes and evaluating and selecting external investment managers, in a similar fashion to an endowment model.
• Architect and deploy highly-scalable, complex financial systems and processes (including long-range planning, budgeting, forecasting, asset allocation, portfolio management, and capital deployment) designed to support a decentralized organizational structure and streamline executive decision-making.
• Serve as the principal financial strategist, providing high-level analysis and counsel to the PLCS and Protocol Labs executive leadership that determines company direction and investment priorities.
• Act as the senior organizational leader and liaison, ensuring alignment and driving strategic consensus between finance, legal, R&D, and various network teams on all critical financial matters.
• Lead complex financial due diligence, organizational design, and post-integration strategy for new high-impact projects, investments, and funds within the broader Protocol Labs ecosystem.
• Lead the finance team -- recruiting, staffing, and performance management.

Requirements

• 15+ years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership or strategic role.
• Proven track record of managing complex financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and treasury management.
• Strong command of financial modeling, corporate finance, and accounting principles.
• Exposure to asset management, fund finance, portfolio management, capital allocation, and early-stage investing.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of synthesizing complex financial information for executive leadership and non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience working in or familiarity with the technology & venture capital space.

Preferred

• Experience in finance within web3 / crypto, or a high-growth or decentralized environment.
• Experience leveraging AI in finance.
• Experience in institutional investing / endowments.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CFA) are highly desirable.
