Niamh Peren

Niamh Peren is the Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer and Co-Director of AI Safety at the Foresight Institute.

At Foresight Institute, Niamh leads the Prizes program, advises the Fellowship program, and co-directs Secure AI Grants. Niamh also serves as a Senior Fellow for the United Nations’ AI for Developing Countries initiative and an advisor to Shift Grants, focusing on responsible AI implementation and sustainable design.

Niamh's professional background includes founding Poignant Productions, where Niamh produced and directed award-winning film projects, and establishing Tino Pai Aotearoa / Thumbs Up New Zealand, a successful waste minimization initiative that influenced New Zealand's waste strategy.

Niamh holds a Master of Science in Strategic Design and Management from Parsons School of Design, where Niamh also served as an Adjunct Professor. Niamh earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with First Class Honours and a Bachelor of Arts (History) from the University of Auckland.
