Dr. Shosuke Kiba is the Managing Partner and Representative Director at Universal Materials Incubator Co., Ltd. (UMI), a venture capital firm specializing in the material and chemical industries.

Shosuke holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology and is dedicated to strengthening Japan's engineering capabilities and fostering a globally competitive industry structure through strategic investments.

Shosuke has been instrumental in the establishment and management of several funds, including the UMI I, UMI II, and UMI III Investment Limited Partnerships, as well as the UMI III Decarbonization Investment Limited Partnership, focusing on groundbreaking technologies and businesses in the decarbonization field.

Before joining UMI as a partner in April 2016, Shosuke gained significant experience at Toyota Tsusho Corp. and Toyota Motor Corp., where he focused on new business development in functional materials and venture investments. Shosuke also started a material/chemicals team at The Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ, Ltd.) in 2012.
